You are not broken. Many of the patterns you struggle with began as intelligent adaptations to your environment.
This trauma-informed therapy group helps you understand where those patterns came from — and how to change them.

The Breaking Intergenerational Trauma Group is an 8-week virtual therapy group designed to help adults identify inherited emotional and relational patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and develop new ways of responding to stress, relationships, and family dynamics.

Through a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and supportive discussion, participants learn practical tools to interrupt cycles that may have been present for generations.

    Who This Group Is For

This group may be a good fit if you:

    • Feel stuck repeating family patterns you don’t want
    • Struggle with boundaries, guilt, or people-pleasing
    • Experience strong emotional reactions you don’t fully understand
    • Grew up around conflict, addiction, mental illness, or instability
    • Notice an inner critic shaped by childhood experiences
    • Feel responsible for others’ emotions or wellbeing
    • Want healthier relationships but don’t know how to change old habits
    • Are working on healing from family trauma or estrangement

You do not need to have a formal trauma diagnosis to benefit.

    What Is Intergenerational Trauma?

Intergenerational trauma refers to emotional patterns, beliefs, coping strategies, and relational behaviors that are passed down through families — often unconsciously.

    These patterns may include:

    • Survival roles (caretaker, hero, scapegoat, lost child)
    • Emotional suppression or reactivity
    • Anxiety, hypervigilance, or avoidance
    • Codependency or difficulty with boundaries
    • Relationship instability
    • Shame or self-criticism
    • Substance use patterns within families
    • Conflict avoidance or emotional disconnection

The goal of this group is not to blame families — it is to create awareness, choice, and change.
