DBT, CBT, & Mindfulness Counseling for Women, LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC Adults & Young Adults – In-Person in Silver Spring, Maryland and Telehealth in Washington, DC
I provide LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming psychotherapy to teenagers, young adults, and adults in-person in Silver Spring, Maryland and virtually in Washington, DC. I help clients struggling with high employment & college stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, self-harm, and those contemplating their substance use or quitting substances such as tobacco/nicotine/vaping, cannabis, and alcohol. I have received extensive training in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) from the Behavioral Tech Institute.
I have a passion for serving underrepresented groups including women & non-binary folx, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe in the importance of using evidence-based, affirming practices to drive long-lasting change while maintaining a compassionate and collaborative approach with my clients. I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I strive to help my clients process the cultural & intergenerational impacts of growing up and adult challenges of being a woman, non-binary, BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+. From childhood and adolescent developmental traumas, discrimination in the workplace & in day to day life, and other painful life experiences, I help my clients find solace and safety in their own bodies, and find ways to have a beautiful life despite the structural challenges in the world at large.
Recognizing that every individual is unique, I focus on building strong therapeutic relationships by incorporating each client’s cultural background and values into the therapeutic process. I utilize DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), and mindfulness-based approaches to support my clients’ growth and healing. I have experience with providing higher levels of care.
I hold two Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and Forensic and Legal Psychology (FLP) from Marymount University. I am currently in advanced training for Exposure Response & Prevention (ERP) to assist clients with OCD and plan on training in EMDR in the coming year. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Binghamton University. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I have been actively involved in volunteer organizations and initiatives while engaging in meaningful experiences with diverse individuals.
